I've always wanted to say the alphabet backwards, but I've never really been that smart or dedicated. :)
My TT are up. Happy Thursday!
YES!! a double dose of pink chihuahua princess! how did i get so lucky? ;)
Oh, yay! I'm glad my falling-asleep trick works for you. I've never tried saying the alphabet backwards to fall asleep; may have to give that a try. I do most of these, but nothing involving actually getting out of bed for the same reason you mentioned--because then I'll be up all night. I had a friend who used to clean her bedroom when she couldn't sleep. Hmmmm. Come to think of it, her bedroom was always spotless...
I can't think of anything else to try. I rarely have problems sleeping, but when I do it drives me crazy! Usually reading blogs late at night works for me since the monitor makes me eyes tired...at that point I can go to sleep.
#8! Oh my gosh, I recently started doing that, (I didn't know that Caryn did it) and it works for me EVERY time! Love it.
I lay in bed, and count my breaths, trying to keep them slow and even....don't know if that'll help though! LOL
I flip my pillows, too! Rearrange my blankets, bug the hubby, etc. LOL
I especially love #5 and #8. Lead Kindly Light is one of my favorites. I've been singing it a lot lately.
Thanks for the words of encouragement, by the way. I'm feeling much better today.
My only suggestion for falling asleep easily lately is just, um, being pregnant. 9 o'clock hits and I start turning into a pumpkin. I'm not worth much for long after that. :)
sorry we have this in common, I wouldn't wish not being able to sleep on anyone, dear
I have to laugh at the leg/arm combos...thats all about me! lol..and flipping the pillow...thank God I now have Ambien, a sleep aid...although, there is a problem with sleep eating after I take my pill....lol..loved your list! I have my 1st official TT up...come visit!
It is hard to fall asleep for me. I sleep with a fan on and recite the word "calm" over and over again. I have to fall asleep before hubby does otherwise his snoring keeps me up! My list is up.
My TT are UP!
When my sister was nine she learned to say the alphabet backwards like super quick.
She's 26 now and its her party trick.
I try counting backwards from a really random high number like 741. It sometimes works.
My husband told me to try imagining that I was falling but then I just started to think too much - where was I falling from? How did the fall start? How far til I landed? That didn't work.
I'm going to try the alphabet game next time.
My TT is up.
I read something. And not something mindless, like Cosmo or Vogue, which will keep me awake (and feeling un-hip), but something with more substance, like an actual book or The New Yorker. Okay, only The New Yorker, really. Anyway, concentrating on whatever they're saying takes my mind off the fact I'm supposed to be sleeping, and before I know it I'm asleep.
I can't remember anything I read the next day, so I could pretty much use the same issue for like a year, but I don't. : )
Good luck, Sassy L.!
