CD review

I think I read about this on Shannon's site. I could be wrong. There was an opportunity to receive and review a Michael W. Smith Christmas CD. My blog had the required number of visitors.

So I emailed the record company, but I figured I had been too late. Because they only had 150 CDs to give away. So how surprised was I when I opened a large envelope in the mail a few days later?!

This is my first review; my husband says I've hit the big time now, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I'll let you know if I ever do hit the big time. You all will be the first to know.

So the CD is by Michael W. Smith, and it's his new Christmas CD, called 'It's a Wonderful Christmas' (not to be confused w/the movie....It's a Wonderful Life.)

I should tell you that I am not a big Christian music listener. I have heard Michael W. Smith before, but don't own any of his other CDs. This CD appealed to me a great deal -- the tracks alternate between instrumental and tracks w/vocals. I love that, but it could be disappointing to someone who adored Smith's voice and bought the CD for his singing. I hope not; the instrumental tracks are really well done, and give some down time to process the lyrics. There are some arrangements of old standard Christmas carols, and there are even more new songs written about the birth of our Savior and God's love for us.

After a few listens, I can see that some of the tracks emerge as favorites, and I can see myself listening to this CD throughout the year. I will most definitely enjoy listening to it many Christmases to come. This would be a great hostess present, or gift for someone you attend church with. The songs are well-written, and I find myself humming the tunes and thinking of the words.

My favorite track would have to be 'Christmas Day' featuring Mandisa. to check out a few of the tracks on this CD, click on the square button ------> over there. Let me know what you think!
