new hair...again. and of course, headache talk

The human body experiences a powerful gravitational pull in the direction of hope. That is why the patient's hopes are the physician's secret weapon. They are the hidden ingredients in any prescription. --Norman Cousins

well, i got an email back from my doctor, and i have a decision to make. i can either go the agree to the way my doctor wants to go (trying another MAOI, which includes another hospital stay) or ask to go in another direction. i also responded back hoping for more help with SLEEP, so my fingers are crossed that he'll write back again soon with some solutions or suggestions.

i got my hair done today -- went in asking specifically for please! no! red! my husband is a redhead. i can't have reddish hair without it looking extra fake next to his... unfortunately, even after 3 processings of brown, the (previously blue-black) portions of my hair are a coppery shade... thankfully, most of it is still blonde. there are just streaks of the coppery color.

no need for condolences -- i'm ok with it for a few months. mostly i just thought it was funny that i ended up with exactly what i asked them NOT to do. :) sometimes that's how it goes, right?

new hair!

that's right - new hair again.

i took my own pictures, so they're not very.....good. but i think you can get the general idea. hopefully yes. here's the side view.and kind of the front view. my muum (i saw her yesterday for easter) said she liked it, but i looked like a completely different person.

about this point in the picture taking process i realized i should be smiling.
ignore that thing growing out of the side of my head. i don't know what's going on there.
and now a little bit from the top-ish.
and really the top -- the blond color is the same, the black chunks are actually a blue-black. it looks more blueish purplish in the sunlight. and the underneath part of my hair is that same black color, as well.

i mainly look like a fish here.
bad angle.

but the shirt is great, right? it was an Easter present from my MIL -- next week spencer and i will get a picture of us in our cute matching clothes.

that's it for the new hair -- i like it, and am glad to have a change. : )

back again

people, i've been a bad blogger. there's just no two ways about it.

one of my most faithful readers (that is, my mother-in-law) mentioned that i hadn't been blogging since i'd been feeling well. it's true! i have been reading blogs, and i have *thought* about blogging. but....there is SO MUCH TO DO! and i can do so much more these days! ah, it's a fabulous world. i feel like i'm on top of the world. it's a kind of happiness i can hardly explain......it's like i've been given my life back. that probably sounds over-dramatic, but really - it's a very apt description.

so i need to catch you all up here -- first, my pink hair -- it's faded a LOT, but here's a picture of it the week i had it done. high quality, of course, since i took it of myself, you know it's going to be good. ;)

i'll avoid any commentary about my appearance.... moving on!

the shorts i told you about? here's a picture of them on me - they're actually looser than they look, this makes them look tapered (shudder) near the knee; they're not.

and finally a little bit of a texas recap (this is going to have to take place over a few entries..) one of the places we went to eat was Chris Madrid's, in san antonio.it's a complete hole-in-the-wall, and there are t-shirts all over the wall, signed by various famous people who've eaten there. they are listed as one of AOL's 15 burgers to try before you die, and people, it just might kill you. they are FABULOUS burgers, and delicious....mostly i speak of the grease factor. ;) here's spencer's burger - he got a jalepeno cheeseburger, macho sized. i got his hand in there so you could get an idea of the massive size of this burger --

i had a 'normal' sized burger -- and it was pretty humongous as well. here's a shot of him taking his first bite -

and the deliciousness in the middle (note the jalepenos)

and here is the remains; what could not be finished. (i should note here that i did finish my burger).
wow. if you're ever nearby, you must try it. it's an experience not to be forgotten.

the edge and i went on saturday to get our hair done; you can't see hers here b/c she's behind the flash (very tricksy). she got her usual highlight and cut, and i got my usual highlights and cut.... on the top half of my hair. the bottom half of my hair (the braid in the below picture) i had dyed pink.

so here's the highlights getting done (all the crazy foils) -- after this, we bleached out the bottom half of my hair -- it's probably for the best that we don't have a photo of this step, it was kind of eerie. it was white blond.....the underneath part of my hair. and then....

the pink dye goes on -- this is what the edge likes to call the head wound shot. looks like i have a head wound and my scalp is bleeding. thankfully, this is not the case. this is the dye on my hair, it had to process for 45 minutes. wow.

and now, this is after all the foils are out, and the dyes have all been rinsed out -- my hair is kind of half dry, half wet here. but the color is pretty true to life. i wasn't expecting it to be so ... neon. honestly. but i like it, and it'll fade.

then here's a front shot (does anyone look good with their hair wet? not me). and you can see my hairdresser, nyssa in the mirror.

the total time for all this? 5 hours. that's right. i had the highlights, the pink and a trim. wow.

when i see my (busy) husband next, i'll see if we can find a picture of me w/my hair done -- that is, dry and fixed. for now, that's the summary and photo journal of my pink hair!

i figure i'd better add this last paragraph on WHY i'd want to dye my hair (any of it) pink. mostly for fun; i've seen it before on blondes (the shadowbox part only) and it was very cute. mostly i was just ready for something new -- and i'm pretty determined to grow out my hair, so it had to be color!
