- i got my hair cut and colored on wednesday. can you believe i haven't posted pictures yet? i sure can't. pictures to come along shortly.
- i love painting my toenails. even through the dead of winter, when no one but me sees them, i like to have them painted. it makes me happy.
- my favorite flavor of gum is extra peppermint. i don't like spearmint.
- if people tell me they admire me, i feel embarrassed. it's difficult for me to accept compliments on my personality. on my appearance, for some reason i have no problem accepting compliments. maybe b/c i feel like i've worked on my appearance to make it pleasant?...buying clothes, putting on makeup, etc.? i have no idea.
- i like to shout made up curse words at other drivers. a habit i picked up from my mother. ex. - you ninny, watch where you're going! .....you get the idea.
- i LOVE watching funny movies w/my husband because his laugh makes me laugh even more.
- speaking of funny movies, my favorite chase scene is in 'What's Up, Doc?' as they are going all around San Francisco on bikes and ars and a VW Beetle. it is hilarious.

the more memes i do, the harder it is to think of new things. and i am not awesome enough to check my own archives to see what i wrote before. so let's see what i can pull out of my head, shall we?
1- one of the blogs i've started reading most recently is called 'in sickness and in health', a blog about how chronic illness or pain affects marriages. a great read for my headachey friends.
2-the thing i miss the most during my diet is ice cream. so creamy, so delicious. what can i say.
3- i was recently at a family function with spencer's family; and i was crocheting to pass the time, keep my hands busy. you know. one of spencer's aunts asked what i was making, and i told her, it was just a washcloth. she looked at my hands for a bit and said that she and spencer's grandma had been trying to figure what i was doing! lol. not only am i left-handed, but i am not the most.....rule-abiding crocheter. which i'm sure slows me down. i just found the whole things hilarious.
4-another website i've been spending time at lately -- craftster. there are forums for allllll different kinds of crafts. very fun.
5- i brought my plants all inside today - it is finally getting cold. :)
6-my shoe collection is somewhat....excessive. some (in my family) might say legendary. thankfully, i have an understanding husband and a fairly big closet.
the fact that they don't fit in one frame is somewhat ridiculous. i understand if you think i'm crazy. sometimes i think so too. but when i'm looking at shoes (in a store), there are still shoe styles and colors that i don't have or wish i had.....i'm sick, there's nothing else i can say.
7- this thanksgiving, i'm making 2 pumpkin pies and sweet potatoes. yummm.
8- i made these socks! they're warm and fuzzy. :)

i'm hoping to get back into blogging more regularly. #1 for an emotional outlet. #2 to keep far-away family updated. talking about doctor's appointments and diets and pills feels like my life sometimes, but telling the same story over and over...you get the idea. posting it here lets family (and friends!) keep up to date w/o having to call me and ask how i'm doing, what i'm trying.
so. how i'm doing today - really bad. the headache was just horrific when i woke up, and has subsided into miserable as i rest in bed. i'm still in the bad cycle that started about 2 weeks ago. my homeopathic doctor said it would get worse before it got better....and it has most decidedly gotten worse. i'm just keeping my fingers crossed for the better part! i'm still following my no sugar, no wheat, no dairy diet, and getting more used to it. i have eaten and entire jar (16 oz.) of almond butter in the month or so i've been on the diet. whoa. the bad cycle is supposed to resolve itself (and move onto the improvement) very soon, within the next 2 weeks. keep your fingers crossed for me!
tomorrow we're having spencer's lab group (and their wives/kids) over for dinner. i'm really looking forward to it, and looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning and taking my pain meds. sweet relief!

Seven things about me:
1. I’m left-handed. So is my mom. :) heehee. ok, that was cheating, i'll start for real now.
2. I was the most outspoken and even bossiest of my siblings, I am sorry to say. LOL, this is me too. although i'd describe myself more as mean and physically dominating, i'm sorry to say.
ok, no more copying, i promise. i'll start being original.
3. i feel guilty if i pay for parking. it's rare that i do, but my dad instilled this in me - Never pay for parking! so when i do, i feel like i've failed!
4. i love chapstick. i think i'm addicted to it. more recently, also extra peppermint gum.
5. i'm growing my hair out. it's never been much longer than it is now (a few inches past my shoulders). i'm *hoping* when it gets long it'll be easier to manage -- hear me out! b/c it's a little wavy, but not really, and not that straight either. it's kind of frizzy. but i'm hoping that being LONG will kind of weigh it down so it'll look better w/o having to be straightened. sounds crazy, i know. but i've got to try it. :)
6. i'm love shopping. love it. love shopping for me, for clothes, shoes, etc., and also for other ppl. luckily, i can get my 'fix' pretty often shopping for birthday presents for others. spencer and i both come from fairly big families. ::grin::
7. when i see chubby babies, i have to hold myself back from touching them - smooching their cheeks, feeling their rolls. i love smelling babies heads. (all friends w/babies, i promise i'm not as crazy as i just made myself sound. don't be afraid to let me hold your babies.) when i was younger i didn't understand how much a person can WANT a baby. some kinda hormone thing, i guess.

waking up: "Train Wreck" by Sarah McLachlan -- hahaha. funny b/c when i have to get up early for something, it often feels like a train wreck - ask my hubby! but in all seriousness, i love this song. i love pretty much all of her songs. this song is from afterglow, one of her newer albums. best line? -- 'in your sweet embrace all my pain's erased'.
first day at school: "Next Year, Baby" by Jamie Cullum. i adore this song, but must take issue with his idea to 'spend less money on shoes' next year. if anything, i strive for constant growth in my shoe budget! if you like jazz, norah jones' style, you should check this guy out. he's great. what does this have to do with the first day of school? ummm we'll say i've given up before i started - and i'm just lookin' to next year. :)
in love: "Long way Down" by Guster (again). get it? long way to FALL in love? huh?
fight song: "Have a Cigar" by Pink Floyd -- this does seem to have some fightin' words.
breaking up: "Maddest King of Love' by Big Bad VooDoo Daddy. 'the maddest kind of love is a love you know won't last'. what more needs to be said?
prom: "Hello, Goodbye" by the Beatles.
life's ok: Appassionata Sonata in F minor op. 57 (mvt 3) by Beethoven (performed by Vladamir Horowitz). man, how can life NOT be ok when you're listening to Horowitz playing the piano?
mental breakdown: "White Ladder" by David Gray. i wonder if we have anything else by him. or where we got this one. weird. however, the phrase 'white ladder' brings to mind a stealthy escape from the sanatorium (perhaps sheets used for the 'ladder'?) and strait jackets. perfection.
driving: "Only You" by Harry Connick Jr. This is a GREAT driving song, if only because it's laid back and relaxing. sigh. i guess i'd rather dance w/my hubby to this one than drive, though. if i could choose. 'you're my dream come true, my one and only you.'
flashback: "Crazy for the Girl" by Evan & Jaron. i don't know where this song came from either. but i DO know that it came out sometime ..... 5+ years ago (?) so that's perfect for a flashback. :)
getting back together: "El Condor Pasa (If I could)" by Simon and Garfunkel. i do love me some S&G, but this is not one of their best (IMHO).
birth of child: Piano Trio in d minor by Faure, performed by the Roth trio. this whole thing seems a little... anxious. i'd rather have something soothing and/or happy to represent the birth of a child. can i have a recount?
wedding: "Your Winter" by Sister Hazel. no, dude it was october. we got married in october. btw there's way too much i'm sorry, pain, and hurting in this song for a wedding song. again, we need more upbeat, lovey-dovey type music for this one.
final battle: "Tonada de la Luna Llena" by Marta Gomez. this is like if the final battle of my movie was a dance-off. sweet! my spanish is rough, but i'm pretty sure this song is about a full moon.
death scene: "Reluctant Hero" by Cheri Magill. a great song from a great singer. 'it's time that i resign as your reluctant hero'. we got her cd when we saw her live at BYU - we enjoyed her set and liked her CD even better.
funeral song: "You Don't Know Me" by Harry Connick Jr 'and anyone can tell; you think you know me well. but you don't know me. kind of a depressing funeral song. i hope that at least someone feels they know me.
end credits: "Scarborough Fair/ Canticle" by Simon and Garfunkel -- now this is a fabulous closing credits song. doesn't get any better than this.

where to begin?
1. i can pop my sternum.
2. i like to have my toenails painted all the time.
3. i own a ridiculous amount of shoes. the number is greater than 75, but i haven't counted recently. it only adds fuel to the (teasing) fire.
4. i don't like chocolate ice cream. it doesn't taste good to me.
5. every test the doctors run on me says i'm perfectly healthy, but i still have headaches all the time!
6. when my eyes water, i like to wipe my tears on my husband. yes, really. i don't know why.
i'll admit i had to have help from my husband to think of this list. and now, for the tagging! i will tag Edge, Muum, the other Emily (on the off-chance that she missed it), and Leigh Ann (again, on the offchance that she missed it). let me know if you do it!
A Christmas Meme
i've seen this one going around, but most recently at Chilihead's place - so i'll say that i officially stole it from her.
1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? eggnog mixed half and half with milk
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? he actually sits them around the room next to our stockings. they aren't wrapped. glad i could clear this one up for you.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? i like either; when i was growing up, some years we'd have an all colors christmas tree (which my dad and brother liked best) and other years we'd have a more decorative tree - like just blue and silver, or just red and green, or whatever (that the girls and my mom liked best).
4. Do you hang mistletoe? nope. i thought about it this year.
5. When do you put your decorations up? sometime between thanksgiving and christmas.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? excluding dessert? yeah right. there are these chocolate covered mint drops that we'd smoosh and put in a peanut butter sandwich. that's my favorite.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child: the anticipation of being awake with my siblings, waiting for the appointed time to wake up my parents. we'd sing christmas carols, and whisper about what we'd do to wake up my parents.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? hmmm... i don't remember!
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? nope, never have.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? uhm....quickly? it is a mini-tree, so it only takes a few minutes, even with lights.
11. Snow! Love it or dread it? i love it as long as i don't have to drive in it. hate driving in it.
12. Can you ice skate? yes - i grew up in ohio, so everyone knew how to ice skate, even if they weren't very good.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? i can't remember what it was growing up. but last year i got what has to be one of the all time best, a kitchenaid mixer (just used it yesterday)
14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you? finding a present for everyone on my list that i think they will LOVE, contemplating the birth of my Savior.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? peppermint ice cream - in the form of a milkshake.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? reading the story of Jesus' birth on christmas eve
17. What tops your tree? a little gold angel - it took me a few years to find something b/c it's a little tree. most of the toppers are made for the big (normal-sized) trees.
18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? mmm - both. i don't really think much about receiving until christmas morning, but it's always great. i LOVE shopping, so doing the christmas shopping is one of my favorite things.
19. What is your favorite Christmas song? o holy night.
20. Candy canes: better for decoration than for human consumption.
